Thingyan of Tatmadaw Families : President and First Lady attended the celebration
On the Myanmar traditional New Year Thingyan Akya Day or Descent Day, which fell on April 14, the Maha Thingyan Festival is being celebrated joyfully and vibrantly across the nation.
The President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Min Aung Hlaing, and First Lady, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, went to the water-play pavilion of the Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Festival organized by the families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services (Army, Navy, Air) and joined together with the Tatmadaw family members in celebrating the New Year water festival.
The water-play pavilion of the Maha Thingyan Festival organized by the families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy, Air) was attended in a festive and lively manner by the President, First Lady and family members, Vice President U Nyo Saw and his spouse Daw San San Aye, Vice President Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye, Union-level dignitaries and their wives, the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and his wife, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army) and his wife, Union Ministers and their wives, the Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, officers, other ranks, and family members, artists, Yein dance troupes and invited guests.
First, when the President and First Lady arrived at the water-play pavilion, they were welcomed and greeted by the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, General Ye Win Oo and his wife Daw Nila, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army), General Kyaw Swar Lin and his wife Daw Nan Kuu Ku, senior military officers and their wives, responsible officials and Yein dance troupes.
Afterward, the President and First Lady, along with the attendees, watched and encouraged performances by famous artists and Yein troupes, who performed songs and elegant Yein dances together with the Myawaddy Music Band.
Subsequently, the President and First Lady sprinkled Thingyan water in accordance with Myanmar traditional customs on the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and his wife, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army) and his wife, Union-level dignitaries and their wives, senior military officers and their wives, attendees, artists, and Yein dance troupes, and together they celebrated the New Year water festival, it’s reported.
