Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Beijing on Wednesday. Xi Jinping urged closer and stronger strategic coordination between China and Russia to firmly defend their legitimate interests and safeguard the unity of Global South countries.

Xi also said the stability and certainty of China-Russia relations were particularly valuable in a changing and turbulent international situation. Lavrov said Russia-China ties had demonstrated high resilience despite the complex external environment and close coordination on multilateral platforms.

He added that Russia stands ready to work with China to maintain high-level exchanges, promote greater development of Russia-China relations, and make greater contributions to world peace and stability.
