A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Electricity and Energy and the Russian Federation’s Investment Development Fund “RC Investments” to enhance cooperation in the electricity and energy sector, including the supply of oil and petroleum products from Russia to Myanmar.A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister U Ko Ko Lwin on April 16 met with officials from Russian companies, arranged by the Russian Ministry of Energy, to discuss the export of LNG, LPG, fertilizers, crude oil, and petroleum products to Myanmar.Both sides discussed ensuring affordable prices based on friendly relations, quality guarantees, secure transportation, and long-term supply, and agreed to continue ongoing cooperation. In the afternoon, the delegation met with Russia’s Inter RAO company to discuss the construction of a coal-fired power plant at Dawei deep-sea port, an oil refinery, and LNG terminals and facilities.They also discussed upgrading gas turbines and engines used in Myanmar, maintenance processes, and technical training programs. In the evening, the Memorandum of Cooperation on economic and technical collaboration was signed in the presence of the Union Minister to support long-term oil supply from Russia and expand cooperation in the energy sector.It is also reported that a separate Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Electricity and Energy and the Russian Ministry of Energy will soon be signed to enhance investment, human resource development, and broader cooperation in the electricity and energy sector.mitv
