Agricultural Loans: Announcement to farmers on increased agricultural loans
The Ministry of Finance and Revenue has announced new measures to support farmers and reduce rural poverty, following guidance from President U Min Aung Hlaing.
The Myanma Agricultural Development Bank will increase agricultural loan amounts while keeping the interest rate at 5% per year. Loans per acre will be raised for major crops including paddy, wheat, and others. Additional loans at 6% interest will also be available for purchasing farming equipment, from small tools to large machines like dryers and silos. The new loans for the 2026 monsoon season will begin on May 12. Farmers who have repaid previous loans are encouraged to apply early at local bank branches.
