On 1st May, Union Minister for Religious Affairs U Tin Oo Lwin, accompanied by concerned officials, paid respect to the members of Sangha from 14 countries attending the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Sixth Buddhist Council.

Initially, the Union Minister paid respect to Shwegyin Nikaya Sangharaja, Abhidhaja Maharatthaguru, Abhidhaja Aggamaha Saddhamma Jotika, Sitagu Sayadaw Dr. Bhaddanta Ñanissara and donated offertories.

Subsequently, the Union Minister paid respect the members of Sangha from Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Viet Nam, Indonesia, the United States, Mexico, Korea, Bhutan and Australia, and expressed his appreciation for their gracious presence and active participation in the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Sixth Buddhist Council.

Next, Anunayaka Sayadaw of the Siam Nikaya Kotte Chapter from Sri Lanka and representative of Sangharaja Sayadaw from Cambodia delivered remarks and made wishes for the lasting resilience and continued flourishing of the Buddha Sasana in Myanmar.

Then, members of Sangha from respective countries conveyed their appreciation for the grand celebration of the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Sixth Buddhist Council. During the event, the Union Minister donated offertories to the members of Sangha, including Pitaka scriptures and Dhamma publications.

The 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Sixth Buddhist Council successfully concluded on Saturday.The last day of the celebration on Saturday was attended by Sayadaws and members of the Sangha led by the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chairman Sayadaw, Union Minister for Religious Affairs U Tin Oo Lwin, officials, and invited guests.Chaired by the Shwe Taung Pali University Nayaka Sayadaw, Abidhamma Pitaka Sangayana question and ansewer session was conducted. It was followed by Ovada Katha, delivered by the Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examiniation Ovadacriya Committee Chairman Sayadaw.Next, Rector of International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University Dr. Bhaddanta Hsekinda reviewed the 5 papers read out on 1st May. Afterwards, the Union Minister and officials donated offertories to the venerable sayadaws and members of Sangha.Then, the Union Minister delivered words of gratitude on successful celebration of the 70th  Anniversary of the Sixth Buddhist Council. The State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Secretary Sayadaw delivered a declaration on the successful celebration of 70th  Anniversary of the Sixth Buddhist Council.Later, State Ovadacariya, Sitagu Sayadaw Dr. Bhaddanta Ñanissara delivered Ovadas on victory of the 70th Anniversary Celebration. Subsequently, the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chairman Sayadaw delivered Ovada Katha on successufl conclusion of the 70th Anniversary Celebration.It is learnt that the first Buddhist Council was convened in the 1st year of the Buddhist Era, the second in the 100 Buddhist Era, the third in the 235 Buddhist Era, the fourth in the 450 Buddhist Era, the fifth in the 2415 Buddhist Era, and the sixth in the 2498 Buddhist Era.The70th Anniversary Celebration of the Sixth Buddhist Council was successfully held from 30th April to 2nd May in a grand manner with the constructive participation of State Prominent Sayadaws and eminent members of Sangha from 14 international countries.mitv

The second day of the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Sixth Buddhist Council and academic paper presentation continued at Maha Pasana Cave in Kaba Aye Hill of Yangon on Friday.The ceremony was attended by Sayadaws and members of the Sangha led by the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chairman Sayadaw, Union Minister for Religious Affairs U Tin Oo Lwin, officials, and invited guests. The program included question and answer session on Tipitaka, and academic paper presentations by eminent Sayadaws on Buddhist history, teachings, and education.In the afternoon, international Buddhist scholars and professors from Mandalay State Pariyati Sasana University read out their papers and engaged in discussions. The event concluded with Union Minister and officials presenting commemorative gifts and Buddhist books to attending Sayadaws and scholars.mitv

Ayeyarwady Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw met with 2026 Luyechun outstanding students at Ayeyar Shwewah Hall in Pathein on Friday afternoon.At the meeting, the Chief Minister described Luyechun students as individuals who excel not only academically but also in physical fitness, moral character, and interpersonal skills, and highlighted their role as future human resources for the country.He added that the Luyechun program aims to nurture reliable and capable youth, encouraging participants to exchange cultural traditions and regional development experiences with peers from other regions and states, while maintaining unity.He urged them to serve as role models and become dependable citizens for the nation. The Chief Minister also congratulated Luyechun students and presented cash awards. A four-time Luyechun awardee then gave words of thanks in return.The event concluded with a tea reception for the attendees.
