Flourishing Sasana: Paying respect to the Venerable Sayadaws
On 1st May, Union Minister for Religious Affairs U Tin Oo Lwin, accompanied by concerned officials, paid respect to the members of Sangha from 14 countries attending the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Sixth Buddhist Council.
Initially, the Union Minister paid respect to Shwegyin Nikaya Sangharaja, Abhidhaja Maharatthaguru, Abhidhaja Aggamaha Saddhamma Jotika, Sitagu Sayadaw Dr. Bhaddanta Ñanissara and donated offertories.
Subsequently, the Union Minister paid respect the members of Sangha from Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Viet Nam, Indonesia, the United States, Mexico, Korea, Bhutan and Australia, and expressed his appreciation for their gracious presence and active participation in the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Sixth Buddhist Council.
Next, Anunayaka Sayadaw of the Siam Nikaya Kotte Chapter from Sri Lanka and representative of Sangharaja Sayadaw from Cambodia delivered remarks and made wishes for the lasting resilience and continued flourishing of the Buddha Sasana in Myanmar.
Then, members of Sangha from respective countries conveyed their appreciation for the grand celebration of the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Sixth Buddhist Council. During the event, the Union Minister donated offertories to the members of Sangha, including Pitaka scriptures and Dhamma publications.
