Colombia's president pushes for constituent assembly
Colombian President Gustavo Petro proposed that Colombians collect two and a half million valid signatures in a push for convening a national constituent assembly, to reform the constitution to address social issues and fight against corruption. The proposal gained major attention on May 1 during a public speech by Gustavo Petro in Medellín. Colombia’s law requires millions of citizen signatures to move forward with such a process.
