According to the Myanmar Fisheries Federation, Myanmar exports seafood products, including hilsa, rohu, river catfish, seabass, eel, shrimp and crab, to foreign markets through more than 140 fishery cold storage facilities, while the relevant department annually renews operating licences for the facilities.

Myanmar delivered over 10,000 metric tonnes of fish in April of the current financial year 2026-2027, generating over US$17.35 million, according to the Department of Fisheries.
Myanmar sent over 8,900 metric tonnes of fish by sea, with an estimated value of $14.64 million. Over 2,480 metric tonnes of fish worth $2.7 million were exported to neighbouring countries via the land borders.
Myanmar exported over 18,160 tonnes of fishery products in April this FY.
Myanmar steadily exports seafood to 40 countries, including China, Thailand, Bangladesh and Japan through maritime and border trade channels.
Seafood, including hilsa, rohu, river catfish, seabass, eel, shrimp and crab, is shipped to foreign markets, according to the Myanmar Fisheries Federation. There are over 140 fishery cold storage facilities, and the department grants annual licence renewals. — NN/KK
