Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw on May 22 visited a water pipe and irrigation equipment manufacturing factory in Mingaladon Township of Yangon Region.

During the visit, officials explained the production process and ongoing operations. The Deputy Minister highlighted the importance of producing durable and affordable water pipes, sprinkler systems, and drip irrigation equipment to support water-saving agricultural practices, especially in water-scarce areas. He pointed out that wider use of quality irrigation systems could help improve Myanmar’s agriculture and livestock sectors.

The Deputy Minister later inspected drainage canal excavation works in Hlegu Township. Officials reported on the progress of works, and the Deputy Minister instructed the systematic excavation works according to design plans to ensure smooth water flow during the rainy season and reduce flooding risks. He also emphasized cooperation with local authorities to prevent obstructions in waterways and urged efforts to improve summer and monsoon paddy production after completion of the drainage projects.
