Union Minister for Industry and MSME Development Dr. Charlie Than inspected MSME-related activities in Nay Pyi Taw on Sunday.

He visited the Shwe Oo food production business in Oattarathiri Township, which produces products from konjac such as drinks, jelly, and instant noodles. He reviewed the production process and discussed ways to improve support for MSME businesses, including solving challenges and providing technical assistance.

He also emphasized following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and linking businesses with experts and researchers. The Union Minister also attended a training program on good business practices for MSMEs and gave guidance on improving value-added products from local raw materials, improving packaging, and creating more job opportunities.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister visited the Mr. Bamboo factory producing disposable bamboo chopsticks. He inspected production processes and discussed future expansion, including using bamboo by-products to make pulp and charcoal. He also stressed workplace safety and obtaining international product certifications.

Myanmar to expand Rice Export Zones to 350,000 acres during this year’s monsoon
The Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) will implement the Rice Export Zone project on up to 350,000 acres of land during this year’s monsoon, according to MRF Vice-President U Khin Myint.Under the project, one acre farmland of Rice Export Zone is planned for every tonne of rice exported. The cultivated area will be expanded annually to reach up to five million acres, with the aim of increasing rice exports to five million tonnes by 2030, it is reported.At present, Rice Export Zones are being implemented in around 100 townships across the country under the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation in an effort to double export volumes.“We are cooperating with the relevant ministries to ensure that agricultural subsidies can be delivered to farmers before 15 June and that agricultural inputs and fuel oil can be sold to farmers at reasonable prices. We will also work together with the Myanmar Rice Federation to address the current shortage of paddy seeds,” said U Khin Myint.According to the MRF, 80 per cent of Myanmar’s total rice production is consumed domestically, while only the remaining 20 per cent is exported to foreign markets. President U Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by officials, inspected livestock breeding businesses in the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory on Sunday.At a goat farm in Shwe Myo Breeding Zone, the President heard reports on the farming process and instructed for biosecurity, systematic meat production, and cultivation of Napier grass and plum trees for animal feed. They also inspected a piggery run by a local battalion, where officials reported on the status of the farm and the distribution of pork and related products.Upon the report, the President stressed the need to expand breeding of locally produced pig breeds instead of relying on imports. He added that a proper system for production, breeding, feeding, and meat processing should be developed. The President and party later proceeded to No.1 Kan Gyi Breeding Zone and inspected a dairy cow farm, broiler and layer farms, and a piggery.Farm owners presented updates on their farms, breeding processes, and production and distribution activities. After hearing the reports, the President said it is necessary to study advanced dairy farming practices from abroad, including feeding and sanitation systems.He also pointed out the need to use biogas generator systems to reduce environmental impact from farm waste and to lower electricity consumption. He added that automatic feeding systems and egg collection systems should be installed in broiler and layer farms.At the briefing hall, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman reported on the implementation of the Kan Gyi, Shwe Myo, and Pyaung Gaung Gyi breeding zones, safety and disease control measures, reproduction processes, and future plans.After hearing the report, the President said the establishment of breeding zones across the country is aimed at ensuring sufficient supplies of meat, fish, and eggs at fair prices, and urged breeders to implement their activities in a systematic manner for successful farming.
