  • Myanmar drawn in AFC U20 Development Phase Group K

The Asian Football Confederation will introduce a new format for the 2027 AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers, with Myanmar placed in Development Phase Group K.
According to the draw held on 28 May, the qualifiers will consist of eight regular groups and three Development Phase groups. Myanmar failed to qualify for the main qualifying section due to poor results in previous campaigns and will instead compete in the Development Phase.
Myanmar were drawn alongside the Maldives, Brunei and Sri Lanka in Group K. The top two teams with the highest points from the three Development Phase groups will advance to next year’s qualifiers.
The qualifiers will be held from 31 August to 6 September, with Myanmar hosting the Group K matches.
The Myanmar U20 team is currently coached by Japanese head coach Yuji and will also compete in the ASEAN U19 Championship in Indonesia from 1 to 13 June. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL

A youth panel discussion under the theme “Let’s Elevate the Future of Youth for National Development” was held on Thursday morning at the Youth Center Hall in Thaketa Township, Yangon Region. The event aimed to actively involve young people in national development initiatives during the government’s first 100 days.Deputy Chairman (1) of the Central Committee on Youth Affairs and Union Minister for Youth Affairs Dr. Maung Thin attended and delivered the opening remarks. The program began with paying respect to the National Flag of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.In his opening address, Union Minister Dr. Maung Thin pointed out that “Enhancing the quality of youth is primarily about critical thinking, systematic problem-solving skills, and improving overall performance. Youth forums and dialogue sessions serve this purpose, and today’s panel discussion acts as a stepping stone to elevate the quality of the youth population.” Following this, the Chairman of the Yangon Region Youth Affairs Committee and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu delivered the remarks. Free Medical Healthcare Service Program for local residents was carried out at Aung Si Tha Monastery in Pobbathiri Township.The program was organized by the Department of Medical Treatment in collaboration with specialist doctors from Nay Pyi Taw 300-Bedded General Hospital and Tatkone 100-Bedded Hospital. Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Kan Myint Than visited the venue and observed the provision of free medical treatment and healthcare services measures.They also presented nutritious foods and medicated mosquito nets to the residents, and offered commemorative fruit baskets to the specialist doctors.During the program, the doctors provided medical treatment and healthcare services to a total of 536 patients, including 135 general patients, 22 pediatric patients, 15 surgical patients, 81 orthopedic patients, 14 obstetrics and gynecology patients, 112 eye patients, 28 dental and oral patients, 4 physiotherapy patients, 108 X-ray examinations, and 17 ultrasound examinations.
