  • Bagan Bars Vehicles from Ancient Sites to Protect Heritage

The Ministry of Hotels, Tourism and Culture announced that barriers have been set up to restrict the entry of vehicles and motorbikes near the ancient buildings of the Bagan World Heritage Site.
The Bagan World Heritage Site is a cultural heritage site with numerous historic pagodas, temples, caverns, brick temples, and other features. Some ancient buildings have weakened for a long time as a result of weather conditions and natural disasters, and the passing of vehicles and motorcycles near them may cause harm.
As a preventative measure to ensure the long-term preservation of old buildings, barriers are being built to restrict vehicle and motorbike traffic near ancient structures.
It is known that priority is being given to places with a high number of pilgrims visiting. Currently, barriers have been erected near the Tatkalay wall, Min Nan Thu (Laydaunt Lake), near the entrance to Lokaokshaung Pagoda, and near the entrance to East Ohhtein mountain to protect ancient buildings from damage. — ASH/MKKS
