  • Field Inspection Tour: UEC Chairman inspected maintenance of MEVMs

Union Election Commission Chairman U Than Soe, accompanied by responsible officials, visited Dawei District and Myeik District in Tanintharyi Region on June 3rd and 4th to inspect the storage and maintenance conditions of the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machines (MEVMs) used in the 2025 General Election.

He also met with members of the MEVM Supervisory Committees and relevant officials at the Tanintharyi Region Government Office and the Myeik District General Administration Department. During the meetings, the UEC Chairman stated that accurate voter lists are extremely important in conducting elections, and therefore monthly cross-checking and verification should be carried out in coordination with the relevant General Administration Department and the Ministry of Immigration and Population.

He said that the recently completed election saw enthusiastic participation from the public and was recognized as a free and fair election supported by the people. Therefore, he urged officials to continue making every possible effort and use their full capabilities in organizing future elections as well.

Afterward, the Chairman and officials inspected locations where the MEVMs were being stored. The Chairman emphasized that the voting machines are restricted equipment, and instructed officials to strictly follow the guidelines for inspection and maintenance of electronic voting machines in order to prevent damage or deterioration.
