The National Solidarity and Peacemaking Central Committee, led by the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, invited ethnic armed organizations to participate in peace talks through Announcement No. 1/2026 issued on April 21, 2026, in order to implement peace processes aimed at national development and stability through free and unconditional discussions.In response to the invitation, an informal meeting between the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee and the Negotiation Team of Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement signatory Ethnic Armed Organizations (NCA-S EAOs) was held Tuesday morning at the M Gallery Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.Attendees included NSPNC Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Secretary Lt-Gen Min Naing, and committee members. Representatives from NCA-signatory EAOs also attended, including RCSS Secretary-1 Sao Sai Ngin, KNU/KNLA Peace Council Secretary-1 Saw Kyaw Nyunt, New Mon State Party (NMSP) Central Executive Committee member Nai Aung Ma Ngay, Lahu Democratic Union (LDU) General Secretary Kyar Yar Kote, Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA) Chief of Staff Saw Sein Win, Arakan Liberation Party (ALP) General Secretary Saw Mra Thanda, and coordinators U Myo Win and Nan Yin Yin Soe.During the discussions, NSPNC Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and RCSS Secretary-1 Sao Sai Ngin, on behalf of the NCA-S EAOs negotiation team, delivered the opening remarks. Afterward, NSPNC Secretary Lt-Gen Min Naing, explained the peace plans to be implemented by the committee.Representatives from the NCA-S EAOs negotiation team then presented their views and proposals regarding the peace process. Based on these proposals, attendees discussed various matters related to implementing the peace process, including possible confidence-building measures, establishing phased peace policies, procedures, and mechanisms, implementing an unconditional ceasefire process among relevant parties, encouraging political dialogue to resolve political differences, creating an inclusive peace process based on the essence of the NCA, ensuring continuity of the peace process, carrying out regional development activities so that local people in conflict areas can benefit from peace dividends, securing international assistance for the peace process, and selecting suitable venues inside or outside the country for meetings involving all relevant stakeholders.Representatives from the NCA-S EAOs negotiation team also raised questions regarding the government’s 100-day timeline for the peace invitation and the government’s peace policies and procedures. Responsible officials from the negotiation committee responded with clarifications and further discussions. Afterward, participants coordinated discussions to compile records of the meeting’s conclusions.
