More than 4,000 acres of winter sesame will be planted in YeU Township, YeU District, Sagaing Region, during the upcoming winter crops planting season, according to the Department of Agriculture for YeU District.
In the 2025-2026 winter crops planting season, 4,523 acres of winter sesame will be planted in YeU Township, and planting will begin
from October this year until December.
“We will work to achieve the target acres. Sesame cultivation has been increasing year by year. Sesame is mainly grown in the winter rather than the rainy season.
As for oilseed crops, it is in a successful position,” said U Zaw Myint Htun, head of Department of Agriculture for YeU District.
This year, the Township Agriculture Department will provide education to farmers growing sesame in YeU Township on how to expand sesame cultivation, how to cultivate it using planting methods, GAP methods, how to cultivate good varieties, and how to cultivate varieties with high yields.

The Myanmar–India Business Dialogue was held in Mumbai, India, on Wednesday. President U Min Aung  Hlaing attended the event and delivered a speech highlighting investment opportunities in Myanmar.The President expressed Myanmar's interest in importing iron and steel products, cement, medicines, fuel, solar energy equipment, and related items from India, while exporting beans and pulses, oilseed crops, marine products, forest products, garments, rice, and rubber products to India.He also emphasized the importance of promoting cooperation in sectors such as tourism, healthcare, education, agriculture, livestock breeding, oil and gas, industry, transportation, communications, and information technology. Indian entrepreneurs expressed interest in technology, bio-energy production, mineral exploration, agricultural machinery, and fertilizer production. India ranks as Myanmar's fourth-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade conducted under trade agreements and through border trade routes. Major exports from Myanmar to India include beans and pulses, forest products, marine products, and minerals.During the 2025–2026 fiscal year, Myanmar exported goods worth 1.326 billion US dollars to India, while India exported goods valued at between 600 million and 800 million US dollars to Myanmar, including medicines, petroleum products, chemicals, automobiles and related accessories, electronics, motorcycles, tractors, and tractor parts. India and US near Completion of First Phase Trade Agreement
Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Monday that nearly 99% of discussions on the proposed Bilateral Trade Agreement between India and the US have been completed. He stated that the two countries are expected to sign the first phase of the agreement very soon, with only a few outstanding issues left to be resolved.Minister Goyal said discussions will continue from 2nd to 4th June to address the remaining matters before the agreement is formally announced. He also indicated that negotiations on a second phase would continue after the initial pact is concluded. The proposed agreement is expected to cover areas including market access, customs facilitation, non-tariff barriers, investment promotion and supply-chain cooperation.mitv
