  • Meeting with Governor of Maharashtra: President exchanged views with Governor of Maharashtra

The President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Min Aung Hlaing, who is on an official visit to Mumbai, India, met with the Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Jishnu Dev Verma, in the evening on June 2nd.

First, the high-level Myanmar delegation led by the President arrived at Maharashtra Lok Bhavan Mumbai (Governor’s House), where the Governor of Maharashtra warmly welcomed and greeted them.

Afterwards, the President and the Governor of Maharashtra held discussions.

During their cordial talks, they exchanged views on matters including the historically good relations between the two neighboring countries, and the ongoing improvement in friendship and cooperation, the interactions and exchanges between the peoples of the two nations, the efforts of the high-level Myanmar delegation to further enhance trade and investment between Myanmar and India, the gratitude of the Myanmar government and people for India’s assistance as a good neighbor during natural disasters in Myanmar and the ongoing enhancement of bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

Following the meeting, the President and the Governor of Maharashtra posed for a commemorative group photo with the attendees.

The President and his delegation then proceeded to the venue for a banquet hosted by the Governor of Maharashtra, where the Maharashtra State Honor Guard Band performed the national anthems of both countries.

Subsequently, the Governor of Maharashtra introduced state government officials to the President, and the President introduced the members of his delegation in return.

Afterwards, the Governor of Maharashtra hosted a banquet in honor of the high-level Myanmar delegation led by the President. Before and during the banquet, the Maharashtra State Honor Guard Band performed musical pieces from both countries. Following the banquet, the President signed the visitors' book at Maharashtra Lok Bhavan Mumbai (Governor’s House).

The President and his delegation then enjoyed a performance by the Maharashtra State Honor Guard Band, after which the President and the Governor presented cash awards and bid each other a warm farewell, it’s reported.

The President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Min Aung Hlaing, who is on an official visit to New Delhi, India, was paid a courtesy call Tuesday morning by Shri Sanjay Malhotra, Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.During the meeting, they cordially discussed matters including the ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral trade and economic activities, and to promote cooperation in various sectors, the prospects for collaboration between the central banks of the two countries to facilitate faster and smoother payment transactions, the status of arrangements for direct payments in Rupees and Kyat for trade activities, the potential for India to share and provide training on banking systems to Myanmar’s bank officials and the possibility of sharing experiences regarding digital payment systems between the two nations.The meeting was attended, on the Myanmar side, by Union Ministers U Khin Maung Yi and U Tin Maung Swe, along with the Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar, Dr. Khin Naing Oo, and members of delegation, who are accompanying the President on the visit. DPTSC offers solar energy workshop
Department of Power Transmission and System Control (DPTSC) under the Ministry of Electricity and Energy (MOEE) will host a workshop on Electricity Generation using solar energy that is scheduled to be held in the first week of July.Although Myanmar has abundant solar resources, the amount of electricity generated and utilized from solar energy remains low. The ministry is promoting increased electricity generation from solar energy through integrating solar systems into the national power grid at an appropriate ratio and promoting the installation and use of solar systems by individuals or groups.The ministry states that addressing technical limitations and management challenges encountered in these efforts will bring about effective measures and quick implementation of the projects.The ministry is planning to host a comprehensive workshop during the first week of July 2026 to significantly scale up the contribution of solar power to the nation’s electricity consumption.
