The Buddha Pujaniya Festival (Taboung Festival) of the ancient ShweUmin Natural Cave Pagoda in Pindaya, Danu Self-Administered Zone, Shan State (South), will be held, according to the festival organizing committee.
The festival will take place from the 10th waxing of Taboung (25 February) to the full moon day of Taboung (2 March).
“During the Taboung Festival, ethnic people residing in the Danu region — including Danu, Taungyo, Pa-O, Palaung, Shan, Inntha and Bamar — will offer alms to 8,094 ancient Buddha images inside the pagoda, make offerings of flowers, scented water and oil lamps, donate monetary contributions, provide morning meals to all monks in Pindaya Township as well as rice to members of the Sangha from near and far,” said U Sai Pay Ti, a member of the Buddha Pujaniya Festival Organizing Committee.
Sports competitions will also be included in the festival programme, and there will be a market fair. — ASH/KNN

For the 2026–2027 academic year, basic education schools across the country will reopen starting June 1. In Kayah State, the school enrollment week program is being carried out from May 25 to May 31 at basic education schools. As part of this program, Kayah State Chief Minister U Aunt Maw visited basic education schools in Loikaw Township Monday morning to observe and encourage school enrollment activities. The Chief Minister and officials visited Basic Education High School No. (1), No. (5), and No. (7), in Loikaw Township, where they observed parents enrolling their children in school. The Chief Minister and officials also distributed school uniforms and school supplies to students and warmly greeted and spoke with parents, guardians, and students who came for enrollment. The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that students attending school this academic year receive sufficient textbooks, stationery, and school uniforms, to make sure all school-age children are able to attend school and to improve school facilities and maintain clean, pleasant, and beautiful school environments. They also coordinated with responsible officials to support these efforts. Afterward, the Chief Minister inspected the arrangement of books, journals, and furniture inside the school libraries and instructed officials to continue supplying reading materials and to make ongoing preparations so that libraries can be continuously used to help students develop reading habits.mitv

Union Minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win inspected dengue fever prevention activities carried out with public participation in Yangon Region.He visited Mayangone Township, where health staff were conducting mosquito larva control activities, using larvicide chemicals, cleaning the environment, and sharing health education to prevent diseases during the rainy season.He also observed a 100-day public healthcare program at a local community hall, where specialist doctors provided medical treatment in various fields such as medicine, surgery, pediatrics, eye, ENT, skin, and dental care. Ultrasound scans were also used for diagnosis. A total of 481 patients received treatment. In addition, eye specialists used AI-based eye screening technology during the medical services.mitv

Schools across Myanmar, including monastic schools and nunnery, are preparing to reopen on June 1 for the new academic year.As part of ongoing educational support, donation activities were held at the Khay Mar Yama Nunnery in Thanlyin Township, where donors contributed cash and school supplies for around one thousand students. The contributions were made to support learning resources and improve school conditions ahead of the new academic year.Donors, Tin Maung Myint said "Contributing to education is a meaningful way to support the future of young students. I am very satisfied for being able to participate in the charity program."Donor, Khin Aye Kyi said "I am happy to contribute to the school and its students. The donation includes school supplies such as stationery needed for the students. I will continue to donate for the school."Educators highlighted the importance of community involvement in strengthening education which continue to play a key role in providing accessible education across the country.Dr. Sandar, Patron Nun, Khay Mar Yama Nunnery said "The school continues to prioritize accessible education for all students through community support and donation-based assistance in addition to the government support. The 12th International Day of Yoga in Nay Pyi Taw is observed on Sunday, under the global theme, "Yoga for Wellness, Wisdom, and World Peace".Prime Minister U Nyo Saw attended the event held at Water Fountain Square in the compound of Maravijaya Buddha Park.
