Preliminary results from Canada's federal by-elections released by Elections Canada on Tuesday showed the governing Liberal Party, led by Prime Minister Mark Carney, won all three contested seats. The victories lift the party to 174 seats in the House of Commons, above the 172 needed for a majority, shifting the government from a minority to a more stable majority position.

In last year's federal election, the Liberals won 169 of 343 seats, securing a fourth consecutive term since 2015 but falling short of a majority. In Canada, a majority government allows the ruling party to pass legislation and control House committees without relying on opposition support, providing greater stability.
