The Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Finance and Revenue, Dr. Kan Zaw, and Union Minister for Industry and MSME Development, Dr. Charlie Than, attended the 17th International Economic Forum and related meetings held in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation, from May 13 to May 17.

On the morning of May 13, the Union Ministers met with Mr. Roman Chekushov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. They discussed matters related to Steel Plant No. (1) (Pangpet), potential cooperation in developing agro-based industries, and collaborative opportunities in the MSME sector.

In the afternoon, they met with Tyazhpromexport Co., Ltd. (TPE) and discussed further steps to be taken concerning Steel Plant No. (1) (Pangpet).

On the morning of May 14, they attended a press conference regarding the 17th International Economic Forum and toured the exhibitions at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Center.

In the afternoon, Union Minister Dr. Kan Zaw attended a discussion on "Ensuring Freedom of Economic Activity and Technology Sovereignty in the Context of the End of the Era of Globalization," while Union Minister Dr. Charlie Than participated in a discussion on "Promotion of Russian Products in the Countries of the Islamic World."

In the evening, the Union Ministers met with Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan. They discussed Tatarstan's development in petrochemicals, mechanical engineering, IT, and agriculture; enhancing bilateral cooperation based on Russia-Myanmar relations; the implementation status of two Letters of Intent (LoIs) signed during Dr. Kz Rais's visit to Myanmar in 2022 regarding agricultural products, trade, and sending workers to Alabuga SEZ; assistance for timely deployment of workers; and organizing reciprocal economic dialogues to boost economic and trade relations.

On May 15, the Union Ministers met with the Omani delegation and discussed potential cooperation for importing petroleum products and LNG; exporting Myanmar agricultural products such as rice, mangoes, coffee, and various beans; and organizing reciprocal economic dialogues to boost economic and trade relations.

Afterwards, they met with officials from Sber Bank and discussed matters related to financial transfers and potential cooperation in AI cybersecurity sectors developed by Gigachal AI.

On the evening of May 16, they attended a dinner reception hosted by Mr. Rustam Khusainovich, Minister of Finance of Kazan.

On the evening of May 17th, the Union Ministers and the Myanmar delegation departed from Kazan International Airport and arrived back at Yangon International Airport May 18th evening, it’s reported.
