The opening ceremony of the 2025–2026 Academic Year Universities (Pathein Zone) Men’s and Women’s Football Tournament and Volleyball Tournament was held on the evening of June 7 at the Pathein University sports ground. Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw attended the ceremony, delivered an opening address, and officially inaugurated the Tournaments.

Following the opening ceremony, the Chief Minister and guests watched and encouraged the opening football match between the Pathein University men’s football team and the Maubin University men’s football team.

The Universities (Pathein Zone) Football and Volleyball Tournaments being held, include participation from Pathein University, Maubin University, and Hinthada University, all under the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education in Ayeyawady Region. The competitions will feature three men’s football teams, two men’s volleyball teams, and two women’s volleyball teams, it’s reported.
