A Cyber Security awareness talk organized by the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs was held Tuesday afternoon in the ministry’s meeting hall, attended by Union Minister U Than Maung, who delivered the opening remarks.

In his speech, the Union Minister stated that countries around the world are working to nurture technically skilled human resources and establish laws, policies, regulations, and procedures in order to prevent and respond to cyber threats and attacks. He noted that Myanmar has already enacted the Cyber Security Law on January 1, 2025.

The Union Minister further said that online scams and fraudulent activities such as “zhàpiàn (Kyar Phyant)” online scam operations have become alarming issues internationally and regionally.
