Thingyan Atat Day in Bago : Bago Region CM participated in the festival
At the central pavilion in Bago, organized by the Bago Region Government, the 2026 Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Atat Day has been celebrated since the morning of April 16. The festival is exceptionally crowded with Thingyan-loving people, as families and groups of friends gather to joyfully and peacefully celebrate the water festival.
First, the Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win, and his wife, along with region ministers and their wives, departmental officials, and responsible persons, participated in the New Year water festival together with Thingyan-loving citizens.
Afterwards, the Chief Minister and his wife, together with responsible officials, watched performances at the Bago Region Government's central pavilion.
These performances featured famous actors and vocalists singing with DJs and music bands, as well as departmental Yein troupes and Yein troupes from wards and village tracts performing elegant traditional Myanmar Thingyan Yein dances. The Region Chief Minister, his wife, and responsible officials presented cash rewards. In the evening, they watched the Yein dance competitions, as departmental Yein troupes and ward/village tract Yein troupes competed according to the prescribed contest rules.
Organized by the Bago Region Government, the Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Festival is being vibrantly celebrated at central pavilions in 28 townships. Additionally, in wards and villages, young people and children have gathered to happily and peacefully play Thingyan Atar water using small pavilions.
Along various streets, satuditha (charity feast) offerings of rice and curries, various Myanmar traditional snacks, and various cold beverages are being provided. The pagodas and monasteries are bustling with people observing the Sabbath and performing meritorious deeds, it’s reported.
