Walking Thingyan in Loikaw : Kayah State CM attended the opening ceremony
The opening ceremony of the Walking Thingyan for the 1387 Myanmar Traditional Cultural Maha Thingyan Festival was held on Kantarawaddy Main Road in front of the State Hall in Loikaw, Kayah State, on the morning of April 13th.
The event was attended by State Chief Minister U Ant Maw, the Speaker of the State Hluttaw, the Commander of Region Military Operations, the State Chief Justice, members of the state government, departmental officials, and invited guests.
First, the State Chief Minister, the Speaker of the State Hluttaw, the Region Military Operations Commander, the State Chief Justice, and the Minister of Security and Border Affairs officially opened the 2026 Myanmar Traditional Cultural Maha Thingyan Festival's Walking Thingyan by cutting a ribbon.
Afterward, the State Chief Minister and the guests took a walking tour of the Loikaw Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Festival's Walking Thingyan. They joyfully splashed Atar water on the public, civil servants, and visitors participating in the festival.
Continuing on, the State Chief Minister and the guests toured and offered encouragement at the pavilions representing various ministries, as well as the Thanaka Thingyan pavilion and the Lahpet Thingyan pavilion located within the Walking Thingyan area.
It is reported that during the Kayah State Walking Thingyan, visitors can come to apply Thanaka and take beautiful photos at the Thanaka Thingyan pavilion.
Additionally, traditional Myanmar pickled tea leaves (Lahpet) will be served to the public celebrating the festival at the Lahpet Thingyan pavilion, and traditional Myanmar foods will be freely offered to everyone at the Satuditha (charity feast) pavilions.
