The opening ceremony for the Magway Region Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Pavilion was held in the morning on April 13th near the "We Love Magway" Rock Garden on Strand Road in Magway. Magway Region Chief Minister U Tin Ko Ko attended the event and delivered a New Year greeting.

Region Chief Minister U Tin Ko Ko stated that during this year's Atar Thingyan, he wishes for everyone to participate in a polite and cultured manner while preserving the dignity of the Myanmar people and the nation's traditional cultural heritage with a renewed spirit and fresh strength, in order to highlight the Myanmar national spirit.

He particularly emphasized his wish for the youth to enjoy playing water happily while showing kindness to one another in a way suited to the modern era, preserving Myanmar's traditional cultural heritage with renewed vigor without losing the true essence of the traditional Myanmar Thingyan.

Subsequently, the Magway Walking Maha Thingyan was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Magway Region Chief Minister U Tin Ko Ko, Region Hluttaw Speaker Dr. Maung Maung Htay, senior military officers from the local military station, region government ministers, and relevant officials.

The Patron of the Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Festival Organizing Committee, Region Chief Minister U Tin Ko Ko, Hluttaw Speaker Dr. Maung Maung Htay, and officials then sprinkled scented water on the members of the competing Yein traditional dance troupes.

Following this, the competing Yein troupes performed dances to Thingyan songs.

The Region Chief Minister and Region Hluttaw Speaker presented cash awards of honor to the performing dance troupes, and it is reported that they then walked around to observe and encourage the water-playing festivities inside the Walking Thingyan pavilion area.

In the year 1387 ME, the traditional Myanmar Maha Thingyan Festival will be celebrated in a courteous and serene manner, in keeping with Myanmar customs, Myanmar style, and Myanmar traditional cultural heritage, to usher in the New Year.On the eve of the traditional Myanmar Maha Thingyan, which falls today on April 13th, the Nay Pyi Taw Myanmar Traditional New Year Thingyan was held at the Nay Pyi Taw City Hall Pavilion or Mandat in accordance with Myanmar traditional cultural heritage. The event was graced by the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Min Aung Hlaing, and First Lady, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla.The traditional Myanmar Maha Thingyan Festival was held in accordance with Myanmar customs, Myanmar style, and Myanmar traditional cultural heritage.The President and First Lady, along with the attendees, enjoyed and encouraged performances featuring traditional Myanmar New Year songs and elegant Yein dance performances by artists from the Department of Fine Arts under the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism and Culture) and artists from MRTV under the Ministry of Information.Subsequently, the President and First Lady sprinkled New Year Thingyan water on the Union-level dignitaries, attendees, and Yein dance troupes, following Myanmar traditional customs.Then, the President and First Lady, along with the attendees, proceeded from the City Hall Mandat to the venue where the Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan opening ceremony would be held. Organized by the Rakhine State Government, the Rakhine Traditional Sandalwood Grinding Festival and Water Pouring to Buddha Image, was held as part of the 1387 ME Maha Thingyan Festival, took place on the morning of April 13 at U Ottama Hall in Sittwe and at the Atula Marajin Pyi Lone Chantha  Pagoda.First, after the Rakhine ceremonial drum was sounded to mark the beginning of the Rakhine Traditional Sandalwood Grinding Festival, the State Chief Minister, U Naing Oo, and his wife, the Speaker of Rakhine State Hluttaw, Dr. San Shwe, the Chief Justice of the State High Court and the regional commander cut the ribbon to open the ceremony.Subsequently, the Rakhine State Cultural Dance Troupe performed a dance to the song "Thingyan Atar Kyu Li Yint .Next, the State Chief Minister, U Naing Oo, delivered New Year's wishes, stating that the Traditional Sandalwood Grinding Festival is a traditional custom of the Rakhine people, passed down through generations from the Dhanawaddy  Era, Vesali  Era, Laymyo  Era, and Mrauk-U  Era up to the present day.He prayed that Rakhine State may stand as a peaceful, prosperous, and developed state, that all evil sins may be cleansed, and that the socio-economic lives of the state's people may be highly improved.After that, the Traditional Sandalwood Grinding groups were introduced one by one. As they ground the sandalwood scented water, the State Chief Minister, his wife, and responsible officials toured and encouraged the participants in the Sandalwood Grinding Ceremony.Following this, the Rakhine State Cultural Dance Troupe performed a Rakhine traditional Thingyan song, and the State General Administration Department's dance troupe performed to the song "Akhar Kyi Nant Yat Myat Dana. The State Chief Minister, his wife, and responsible officials presented honorariums to the sandalwood scented water grinding groups and performance troupes, and then posed for a group photo.Thereafter, carrying the scented water obtained from the ceremony, a procession paraded to the Atula Marajin Pyi Lone Chantha Pagoda in Sittwe to perform the traditional ceremony of Water Pouring to Buddha Image. The State Chief Minister, his wife, and responsible officials paid homage to the pagoda and offered flowers, oil lamps, and water.Then, the ceremony of Water Pouring to Buddha Image was opened. The State Chief Minister, his wife, and responsible officials, upholding Rakhine tradition, used the scented water from the ceremony to perform the Water Pouring to Buddha Images at the Atula Marajin Pyi Lone Chantha Pagoda.
