Walking Thingyan in Magway : Region CM attended the opening ceremony
The opening ceremony for the Magway Region Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Pavilion was held in the morning on April 13th near the "We Love Magway" Rock Garden on Strand Road in Magway. Magway Region Chief Minister U Tin Ko Ko attended the event and delivered a New Year greeting.
Region Chief Minister U Tin Ko Ko stated that during this year's Atar Thingyan, he wishes for everyone to participate in a polite and cultured manner while preserving the dignity of the Myanmar people and the nation's traditional cultural heritage with a renewed spirit and fresh strength, in order to highlight the Myanmar national spirit.
He particularly emphasized his wish for the youth to enjoy playing water happily while showing kindness to one another in a way suited to the modern era, preserving Myanmar's traditional cultural heritage with renewed vigor without losing the true essence of the traditional Myanmar Thingyan.
Subsequently, the Magway Walking Maha Thingyan was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Magway Region Chief Minister U Tin Ko Ko, Region Hluttaw Speaker Dr. Maung Maung Htay, senior military officers from the local military station, region government ministers, and relevant officials.
The Patron of the Myanmar Traditional Maha Thingyan Festival Organizing Committee, Region Chief Minister U Tin Ko Ko, Hluttaw Speaker Dr. Maung Maung Htay, and officials then sprinkled scented water on the members of the competing Yein traditional dance troupes.
Following this, the competing Yein troupes performed dances to Thingyan songs.
The Region Chief Minister and Region Hluttaw Speaker presented cash awards of honor to the performing dance troupes, and it is reported that they then walked around to observe and encourage the water-playing festivities inside the Walking Thingyan pavilion area.
