President in NPT Thingyan : President and First Lady graced Nay Pyi Taw Thingyan
In the year 1387 ME, the traditional Myanmar Maha Thingyan Festival will be celebrated in a courteous and serene manner, in keeping with Myanmar customs, Myanmar style, and Myanmar traditional cultural heritage, to usher in the New Year.
On the eve of the traditional Myanmar Maha Thingyan, which falls today on April 13th, the Nay Pyi Taw Myanmar Traditional New Year Thingyan was held at the Nay Pyi Taw City Hall Pavilion or Mandat in accordance with Myanmar traditional cultural heritage. The event was graced by the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Min Aung Hlaing, and First Lady, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla.
The traditional Myanmar Maha Thingyan Festival was held in accordance with Myanmar customs, Myanmar style, and Myanmar traditional cultural heritage.
The President and First Lady, along with the attendees, enjoyed and encouraged performances featuring traditional Myanmar New Year songs and elegant Yein dance performances by artists from the Department of Fine Arts under the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism and Culture) and artists from MRTV under the Ministry of Information.
Subsequently, the President and First Lady sprinkled New Year Thingyan water on the Union-level dignitaries, attendees, and Yein dance troupes, following Myanmar traditional customs.
Then, the President and First Lady, along with the attendees, proceeded from the City Hall Mandat to the venue where the Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan opening ceremony would be held. Along the way, Yein dance troupes welcomed and greeted them.
After that, at the opening ceremony, the Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Maung Maung Ohn, Union Minister for Information U Htein Lin, and Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism, and Culture U Maung Myint, cut the ribbon to open the Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan gateway.
Following this, the President and First Lady, along with the attendees, watched the Yein dance troupes and then toured and encouraged the Satuditha (charity food offering) pavilions serving traditional Myanmar foods such as pickled tea leaf (lahpet) and htamanè (sticky rice delicacy).
Next, the President and First Lady, together with the attendees, walked around the Myanmar Traditional Cultural Zone and the water-play pavilions of various ministries within the Nay Pyi Taw precinct, joyfully participating in the traditional Myanmar New Year Thingyan alongside Thingyan enthusiasts.
This year’s traditional Myanmar Maha Thingyan Festival and Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan are organized with the aim of enabling the government, Hluttaw representatives, departmental staff, and all citizens to joyfully celebrate while highlighting the essence of Myanmar traditions.
It is reported that famous artists and artist troupes from South Korea and Belarus will perform at the Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan central pavilion. Additionally, the Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan features pavilions for traditional Myanmar thanaka, lahpet, and htamanè, thereby showcasing Myanmar traditional culture and foods to the world.
Similarly, water-play pavilions of various ministries, ethnic traditional water-play pavilions, and central walking thingyan pavilions are offering satuditha charity meals offering to attendees. The public is joyfully and enthusiastically participating in large numbers in the traditional Myanmar New Year Thingyan, with peace of mind and happiness.
